Urban Research Workshop: "Sustainability in International Urban Contexts"
The Urban Research Workshop is intended to provide Columbia University undergraduate students the opportunity to pursue their intellectual and research interests by examining issues that effect both domestic cities, as well as those around the globe. Each year, a theme is chosen for the workshop and the accompanying series of events. In the first two years of the workshop, the theme was "Sustainability in an International Urban Context." The students traveled to Mexico City to conduct comparative research. In conjunction with the Center for Urban Research and Policy, the students hosted an events series. In the third year, the students turned their focus to a great American urban metropolis, Chicago, and are in the process of creating a website to document their research.
